BRUSH WITH DANGER

Cinemavixion Review

Livi Zheng's "Brush With Danger" presents a compelling narrative that intertwines the worlds of art and crime. The film follows a brother and sister duo, artists in their own right, who flee their homeland for Seattle, seeking a new life. Their journey takes a dramatic turn when the sister's artistic talent attracts the attention of an art dealer, seemingly a dream come true. However, this dream quickly sours as they are drawn into a dangerous con involving art forgery and a ruthless collector. The film effectively contrasts the delicate strokes of a painter's brush with the brutal realities of the criminal underworld. While the film's critical reception, as indicated by its Metacritic score of 22/100 and Rotten Tomatoes score of 20%, suggests a challenging viewing experience, the performances of Ken Zheng and Livi Zheng anchor the story. "Brush With Danger" offers a unique exploration of ambition, deception, and the precariousness of pursuing artistic dreams in a world fraught with peril.
