CONVICT

Cinemavixion Review

George Basha delivers a raw and unflinching portrayal of prison life in "Convict." Set within the imposing, historic walls of Parramatta prison, the film plunges viewers into the brutal realities faced by Ray, a war veteran navigating a harsh sentence for manslaughter. The narrative skillfully explores the psychological and physical trials of incarceration, as Ray becomes the target of a vindictive prison boss whose cruelty extends beyond the cell block to Ray's personal life. Basha, who also directs and stars, masterfully depicts the complex internal politics and violent turf wars that define the prison ecosystem. "Convict" is a compelling study of resilience and the fight for survival against overwhelming odds, anchored by strong performances and a visceral atmosphere that captures the grimness of its setting.
