WITCHES IN THE WOODS

Cinemavixion Review

Jordan Barker's 'Witches in the Woods' plunges viewers into a chilling ordeal of survival and escalating paranoia. The film adeptly captures the isolation of a remote, snow-laden mountain setting, where a snowboarding trip for college freshman Jill and her friends descends into a nightmarish struggle against the elements and, more disturbingly, each other. Hannah Kasulka anchors the narrative with a compelling performance as Jill, navigating the group's unraveling dynamics as suspicion and fear take hold. The narrative smartly blurs the lines between metaphorical and literal witch hunts, creating a tense atmosphere that keeps audiences guessing. Despite a modest reception, as indicated by its Rotten Tomatoes score, the film's commitment to its unsettling premise and its exploration of primal fears make it a noteworthy entry in the thriller genre.
