THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY

Cinemavixion Review

Mickey Liddell's 'The Haunting of Molly Hartley' delves into the unsettling territory of inherited trauma and psychological turmoil. Haley Bennett delivers a compelling performance as Molly, a young woman desperately seeking normalcy amidst the shadows of her family's dark history. The film masterfully blends elements of teen drama with psychological horror, as Molly's attempts to forge a new identity are constantly undermined by haunting nightmares and the fear of a disturbing inheritance. While the film garnered a modest box office performance and faced a challenging reception from critics, its exploration of mental health and the inescapable nature of one's past offers a thought-provoking, albeit dark, viewing experience. The supporting cast, including Chace Crawford and Jake Weber, effectively complement Bennett's central performance, adding depth to Molly's fractured world.
