JILL, JOY AND THE MYSTERIOUS STRANGER

Cinemavixion Review

This charming Finnish film, "Jill, Joy and the Mysterious Stranger" (2017), directed by Saara Cantell, offers a delightful tale for younger audiences. The story follows two spirited girls, Onneli and Anneli, whose lives take an interesting turn with the arrival of a new children's home nearby. When a boy named Pekki, unhappy with the strict regime led by Minna Pinta, seeks refuge on their beach, the trio forms the 'Rosvoliiton' (Rosewood League). Their mission: to transform the children's home into a place of joy. Aided by the 'Small Vaccinators' and other Rosewood residents, they embark on a heartwarming adventure. The narrative cleverly weaves in the mysterious Rouva Rosewood, who appears to be the source of the magical solutions. While the film's plot summary is provided, a deeper critical analysis is limited without further contextual information or external critical reception.
