Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a compelling glimpse into the spiritual heart of Saudi Arabia, focusing on the sacred cities of Mecca and Medina. It traces the significant journey of pilgrims, from their arrival at Jeddah to their devotion at the Holy Kaäba. The film raises pertinent questions about the call for a more moderate Islam, exploring whether religious leadership genuinely embraces this shift. By centering the narrative through the perspectives of the local inhabitants, the documentary provides an intimate look at the internal dynamics and the potential for genuine change within the Kingdom. It prompts viewers to consider whether the pronouncements of reform are substantive or merely superficial gestures.
