FALCHI

Cinemavixion Review

Toni D'Angelo's "Falchi" plunges viewers into the pulsating, multi-ethnic heart of Naples, eschewing postcard prettiness for a labyrinth of raw, often violent, urban reality. This is the gritty domain of Peppe (Michele Riondino) and Francesco (Fortunato Cerlino), two "Falchi" of the Special Squad. Far from desk-bound officers, they live and breathe the streets on their motorcycles, operating 24/7, speaking the language of the marginalized to hunt down the organized crime choking the city. "Falchi" transcends the typical police procedural, evolving into a stark, twilight melodrama. It masterfully explores the quasi-fraternal bond between two agents perpetually gazing into the abyss, treading the razor's edge between law and personal vengeance. Amidst breathtaking chases and betrayals, Riondino and Cerlino grapple with their inner demons and a ruthless adversary, portrayed with chilling intensity by Aniello Arena. In this visceral war on crime, the lines between hunter and hunted blur, offering a compelling, albeit somber, cinematic experience that earned 2 wins and 3 nominations.
