Emimmo Salvi's "Vulcano, Figlio di Giove" (1962) is a mythological adventure that pits the gods against each other, with Earthly consequences. The film charts a dispute between Jupiter and Mars, which leads Mars to descend to Earth. Aided by Venus, he manipulates the Thracians to build a grand castle intended to rival Mount Olympus. Jupiter dispatches Vulcan to confront Mars, but not before Mars enlists the help of the Thracians. Vulcan's journey is intertwined with Etna, a water nymph who joins him on his quest. The narrative escalates as the Thracians capture and torture Etna, prompting Vulcan to rescue her and incite a slave rebellion. While Mars and Venus attempt to flee back to Olympus, Jupiter intervenes, sending Vulcan back to Earth to be with Etna. Starring Gordon Mitchell, Annie Gorassini, and Bella Cortez, this Italian production offers a blend of divine conflict and human struggle, set against a backdrop of ancient myth.
