BEAUTIFUL VILLAGER 88

Cinemavixion Review

Mustafa Şevki Doğan's 'Beautiful Villager 88' presents a compelling narrative centered on Gül, a woman seeking solace and a fresh start in the tranquil village of Muğla after a devastating breakup and a disillusionment with Istanbul's pace. The story beautifully juxtaposes urban ennui with rural charm, as Gül finds herself entangled in a new romance with Cemal, a local, much to the chagrin of her ex-fiancé Kaan, who unexpectedly appears in the village. The arrival of her sisters further complicates the dynamics, as they too become part of the village's fabric, living alongside the enigmatic Sultan Ana. The film explores themes of self-discovery, new beginnings, and the unexpected turns love can take when one steps outside their comfort zone. Gizem Karaca, Berk Cankat, and Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan lead a cast that promises to bring depth to this tale of a city woman finding love and belonging in an unfamiliar, yet captivating, setting.
