BEAUTIFUL VILLAGER 85

Cinemavixion Review

Mustafa Şevki Doğan's "Beautiful Villager 85" plunges into the heart of a woman adrift, seeking solace in the rustic embrace of Güzelköy after the turmoil of Istanbul and a painful separation from her lover, Kaan. The narrative centers on Gul, whose existential ennui is palpable as she trades the city's clamor for a quieter existence. Her life intertwines with the enigmatic Sultan Ana, who mistakes Gul for her grandchild, adding a layer of poignant irony and familial connection. The arrival of Gul's former fiancé, Kaan, introduces a familiar conflict, yet Gul's heart has found a new compass in Cemal, a local villager. This film explores the universal yearning for belonging and the unexpected paths love can take, contrasting the sophisticated urbanite with the authentic rhythms of village life. It's a story that promises a tender exploration of self-discovery and new beginnings amidst the backdrop of a picturesque Turkish village.
