WOULD YOU RENT YOUR HOUSE TO AN EX-CON? (PRISON DEBATE DOCUMENTARY)

Cinemavixion Review

Matt Duhamel's "Would You Rent Your House to An Ex-Con?" offers a vital and unflinching look at the systemic challenges faced by formerly incarcerated individuals seeking stable housing. The documentary skillfully navigates the complex web of 'red tape' and stringent rental policies that create significant barriers to reintegration. By centering the narratives of those directly impacted by felony conviction-based housing restrictions, the film humanizes a demographic often marginalized and misunderstood. It prompts viewers to confront their own biases and consider the societal implications of denying basic necessities like shelter to individuals striving to rebuild their lives. This powerful work serves as an essential call for empathy and a re-evaluation of policies that hinder rehabilitation and community inclusion.
