WHEN A KILLER CALLS

Cinemavixion Review

A chilling descent into terror, "When a Killer Calls" (2006) masterfully exploits the primal fear of isolation and vulnerability. The narrative centers on a babysitter thrust into a nightmarish scenario, stalked by an unseen assailant through a series of increasingly menacing phone calls. Director Peter Mervis crafts a palpable sense of dread, utilizing the familiar trope of the 'killer on the line' to its fullest potential. While the film may not reinvent the slasher genre, its taut pacing and effective suspense make for a gripping watch. The performances, particularly from Rebekah Kochan, anchor the escalating tension. Despite its modest IMDb rating, this thriller offers a solid dose of suspense for fans of the subgenre, proving that sometimes, the most terrifying threats are those heard but not seen.
