USA: ON THE BRINK | $70K TO HOMELESS - HOW AMERICA FAILED ITS PEOPLE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a stark and unflinching portrayal of economic precarity in the United States, following individuals whose lives have been upended by unforeseen crises. Through the stories of Marc and Selene, who lost their restaurant and face mounting medical debt, and Steven, a former executive now living in his car, the film reveals the fragility of middle-class stability. The narrative is further underscored by Kirin's plight, facing job loss and potential deportation, highlighting the intersecting challenges of economic hardship and immigration. Directed by Kristell Bernaud and Matthieu Fauroux, the film eschews sensationalism for a raw, empathetic look at the human cost of systemic issues, prompting viewers to confront the realities of poverty and the elusive nature of the American dream in the face of profound social and economic disruption.
