TRUMP: THE FIRST ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

Cinemavixion Review

This BBC documentary offers a chilling look into a pivotal, yet perhaps under-recognized, moment in recent American political history: the 2016 assassination attempt on Donald Trump by Michael Sandford. The film meticulously reconstructs the events leading up to the rally in Las Vegas, where Sandford, a seemingly ordinary British youth, made his audacious attempt to seize a police officer's weapon. Beyond the immediate shock of the incident, the documentary commendably delves into the deeper 'why.' By exploring Sandford's life within the US prison system and reaching out to his family, it seeks to understand the complex personal circumstances and motivations that propelled him to such an extreme act. This approach transforms a news event into a compelling human drama, exploring themes of radicalization and desperation.
