THEY LOOK LIKE PEOPLE

Cinemavixion Review

Perry Blackshear's "They Look Like People" is a masterclass in psychological horror, masterfully blending paranoia with profound emotional depth. The film centers on Wyatt, a man convinced of an impending supernatural transformation among humanity, who seeks solace and perhaps salvation with his estranged friend Christian. What unfolds is not merely a creature feature, but a poignant exploration of love, loyalty, and the terrifying fragility of the human mind. Blackshear crafts an atmosphere thick with dread, amplified by strong performances that anchor the narrative in raw human connection. Celebrated at festivals like Slamdance and Fantasia, this genre-bending work is a testament to independent cinema's power to deliver chilling, thought-provoking narratives that linger long after the credits roll. Its critical acclaim, including a remarkable 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, underscores its status as a must-see for fans of intelligent, unsettling cinema.
