THE WENDIGO

Cinemavixion Review

Jake Robinson's "The Wendigo" plunges viewers into the heart of a chilling folk horror narrative, set against the atmospheric backdrop of North Carolina's dense woods. The film adeptly captures the modern anxieties of social media fame colliding with ancient, terrifying folklore. When a popular online personality vanishes, his friends' desperate search for answers unearths a legend far more sinister than they could have imagined. Robinson, who also stars, crafts a palpable sense of dread, leveraging the isolated setting to amplify the characters' vulnerability. Matthias Margraves and Hunter Redfern deliver compelling performances as they navigate the escalating terror. While the film leans into its horror elements, it also offers a cautionary tale about the perils of ignoring the unknown. "The Wendigo" is a suspenseful and engaging dive into primal fears, sure to resonate with fans of creature features and supernatural mysteries.
