NIGHT OF SOMETHING STRANGE

Cinemavixion Review

Jonathan Straiton's "Night of Something Strange" plunges headfirst into a delightfully gory and darkly comedic take on the zombie apocalypse, filtered through the lens of a beach week gone horribly wrong. The premise, a sexually transmitted disease mutating its victims into the undead, is as outrageous as it is effective, setting the stage for a relentless barrage of inventive horror and uproarious situations. The film masterfully balances genuine scares with laugh-out-loud moments, a feat that owes much to the committed performances of its cast, particularly Trey Harrison and Rebecca C. Kasek. While it may lean into B-movie sensibilities, the tight pacing and surprising narrative turns, coupled with a surprisingly well-executed practical effects, make it a standout in the crowded horror-comedy subgenre. "Night of Something Strange" is a bloody good time, a testament to creative filmmaking on a modest budget that delivers ample thrills and chills.
