THE ABYSS: AWAKEN

Cinemavixion Review

Ken Winkler's "THE ABYSS: AWAKEN" plunges into the unsettling territory of grief and its terrifying consequences. The narrative centers on a husband and father, driven by an unimaginable loss, who seeks to defy death itself. Their desperate pact with a shadowy desert figure to resurrect a brutally murdered woman sets the stage for a chilling descent into the unknown. As the resurrected woman awakens, the initial relief quickly curdles into dread, revealing that the resurrection comes at a profound and horrifying cost. The film masterfully explores the ethical quagmire of playing God and the potential for good intentions to pave a path to damnation. Nikki Moore delivers a compelling performance, navigating the fractured psyche of a woman returned from the void, while Scott Wilson and Scott Mitchell Nelson anchor the human drama with palpable desperation. "THE ABYSS: AWAKEN" is a thought-provoking thriller that lingers long after the credits roll, posing disturbing questions about life, death, and what truly lies beyond.
