THE TRAP

Cinemavixion Review

This film delves into the psyche of Gerardo, a man grappling with an emotional crisis who seeks solace and perhaps a form of catharsis in the solitude of the mountains. His fixation on hunting a rabbit becomes a potent metaphor for his internal struggles, a tangible target for an intangible pain. As his attempts at hunting prove futile, the film masterfully weaves in echoes of his childhood, forcing a confrontation with his present self and the man he has become. Director Juan Pablo Blanco crafts a narrative that is as much about the external landscape as it is about the internal one, using the stark beauty of the mountains to mirror Gerardo's isolation and burgeoning self-awareness. The performances, particularly from Patricio Pasquel as Gerardo, lend a raw authenticity to this introspective journey.
