Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into a fascinating, often overlooked, aspect of Viking history: their surprising adeptness at political maneuvering. Moving beyond the common portrayal of raiders, 'The Last Journey Of The Vikings' illuminates how, in the latter half of the 10th century, these Norsemen transitioned from plunder to diplomacy upon their return to France. The narrative skillfully illustrates the strategic shift towards unification, which ultimately laid the groundwork for the establishment of the Duchy of Normandy. It's a compelling exploration that challenges preconceptions and highlights the complex socio-political evolution of a culture often simplified in historical accounts. The program offers a valuable perspective for anyone interested in the nuanced development of medieval Europe and the enduring legacy of the Vikings.
