THE RETURN

Cinemavixion Review

Greydon Clark's "The Return" offers a compelling dive into the lingering effects of childhood trauma and the unsettling nature of the unknown. Set against the backdrop of a seemingly quiet New Mexico town, the film revisits a mysterious alien encounter from 25 years prior. When the protagonists, now adults, are drawn back together, the past begins to bleed into the present with a series of inexplicable and sinister events. Jan-Michael Vincent and Cybill Shepherd anchor the narrative, portraying individuals grappling with repressed memories and a renewed sense of dread. The film expertly builds suspense, weaving elements of science fiction with a palpable sense of mystery, making it a thought-provoking exploration of how profound experiences can shape our lives decades later. Its atmospheric tension and thematic depth invite viewers to ponder the echoes of the past and the enduring power of the unexplained.
