THE PSYCHOLOGIST

Cinemavixion Review

Anton Kurza's 2022 film, "The Psychologist," plunges into a peculiar world where ambition curdles into dangerous obsession. The narrative follows a patient with an audacious goal: to ascend to the pinnacle of psychological mastery and become a messianic figure for the disaffected. This darkly campy and absurdist fantasy, penned by Kurza himself alongside Dmytro Gordon and Andrii Kaplun, who also star in the film, weaves a tale of mind games, manipulation, and the unsettling allure of a mysterious cult plotting to seize control of an entire city. While the film delves into psychological drama, its cult intrigue and the protagonist's dangerous quest to rise above his condition lend it a unique, suspenseful, and emotionally charged atmosphere. With three awards to its name, "The Psychologist" appears to be a compelling exploration of blurred morality and the chilling depths of human ambition, offering a tension-filled journey for those drawn to the unconventional.
