THE OVER-THE-HILL GANG RIDES AGAIN

Cinemavixion Review

George McCowan's "The Over-the-Hill Gang Rides Again" offers a charmingly anachronistic Western comedy, bringing back Walter Brennan as the resourceful Ranger Nash Crawford. This 1970 feature sees the titular gang confronting a more intimate, yet equally perilous, threat: corruption within their own hometown. The narrative cleverly balances lighthearted banter with a genuine, albeit gentle, pursuit of justice, as the aging heroes endeavor to clean up their community and even rehabilitate a local character portrayed by the legendary Fred Astaire. While perhaps not a landmark of the genre, the film provides a pleasant, character-driven diversion, showcasing the enduring appeal of its veteran cast in a story that champions camaraderie and civic duty.
