TARZAN IN MANHATTAN

Cinemavixion Review

In "Tarzan in Manhattan," the iconic jungle hero trades the vine-swung canopy for the concrete jungle in a surprisingly charming television film. This 1989 adventure sees Tarzan, portrayed with earnest conviction, venturing into New York City to rescue his beloved chimpanzee, Cheetah. The narrative cleverly pairs Tarzan with Jane, a resourceful cab driver, creating an endearing dynamic as they navigate the urban landscape. The film offers a unique blend of the familiar Tarzan mythos with a fish-out-of-water comedy, as Tarzan grapples with the peculiarities of city life while pursuing an evil animal experimenter. While perhaps not reaching the epic scale of some other Tarzan iterations, "Tarzan in Manhattan" provides a fun, family-friendly escapade that highlights themes of loyalty and the contrast between nature and civilization. It's a delightful diversion that proves Tarzan's appeal can transcend his natural habitat.
