THE MAYOR WHO SURVIVED FOR 30 YEARS HIDING IN HIS WALLS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the extraordinary tale of Manuel Cortés, a former mayor whose life took an unimaginable turn following the Spanish Civil War. For three decades, Cortés lived in self-imposed confinement, concealed within the very walls of his home—a remarkable testament to survival and the enduring human spirit under duress. The narrative explores the psychological toll of such prolonged isolation, the constant fear of discovery, and the profound impact on his relationships and perception of the world. It raises compelling questions about freedom, sacrifice, and the lengths one might go to evade persecution. The film offers a poignant and unsettling look at a man who became a ghost in his own life, a prisoner of his own home, navigating an existence defined by silence and shadow.
