THE MASK MURDERS

Cinemavixion Review

Alfred Sole's "The Mask Murders" plunges into the unsettling atmosphere of a small community shattered by a brutal child murder. The film centers on Alice Spages, a withdrawn 12-year-old, who finds herself under a cloud of suspicion when her younger sister, Karen, is found dead just before her First Holy Communion. The narrative masterfully weaves a tale of familial tension, as Alice struggles for attention from her mother, Catherine, who dotes on Karen. The mystery deepens with each subsequent murder, leaving Alice's family and the local authorities grappling with the horrifying possibility that a child might be responsible for such savagery. Sole crafts a chilling psychological thriller that questions innocence and explores the dark undercurrents that can lie beneath the surface of ordinary life, leaving the audience to ponder the true nature of the killer and the psychological toll on the young protagonist.
