THE KRAYS MAD AXEMAN

Cinemavixion Review

William Kerley's 'The Krays Mad Axeman' plunges into the shadowy underbelly of 1960s London, recounting the audacious escape of Frank Mitchell from Dartmoor. Set against the festive backdrop of a Christmas heist, the film captures the tense atmosphere of a man on the run, confined to an East London flat under the watchful eyes of his Kray-affiliated minders. Diarmaid Murtagh delivers a compelling performance as Mitchell, wrestling with his confinement and the escalating paranoia that grips the small space. The claustrophobic setting amplifies the psychological drama, exploring themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the suffocating grip of the criminal underworld. While the narrative focuses on a specific, tense ten-day period, it offers a potent glimpse into the lives of those caught in the Krays' orbit, hinting at the larger, more dangerous machinations at play.
