THE KING'S GUARD

Cinemavixion Review

Jonathan Tydor's "The King's Guard" presents a classic tale of duty and forbidden romance, drawing clear parallels to beloved fairy tales. The narrative centers on Princess Gwendolyn, who finds herself in peril alongside her loyal King's Guard, tasked with protecting not only her person but also a significant royal dowry. The plot thickens with the introduction of a treacherous former commander, Augustus Talbert, whose allegiances and motives remain shrouded in mystery. While the film's IMDb rating suggests a mixed reception, the performances, particularly those of the lead cast including Trevor St. John and Lesley-Anne Down, anchor the story. The film attempts to weave adventure and intrigue, exploring themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the complexities of love against a backdrop of potential conflict. It offers a serviceable, if somewhat familiar, fantasy adventure for those seeking a lighthearted escape.
