THE KEEPER

Cinemavixion Review

Paul Lynch's 2004 thriller, "The Keeper," plunges viewers into the dark underbelly of obsession and control. Dennis Hopper delivers a chilling performance as Sergeant Burns, a lawman whose facade of order crumbles to reveal a deeply disturbed individual. Asia Argento is compelling as Gina, the captive dancer caught in a terrifying battle of wills. The film masterfully builds suspense, exploring the psychological torment of imprisonment and the desperate struggle for survival. While the narrative ventures into disturbing territory, it does so with a grim intensity that holds the audience captive. The supporting cast, including Helen Shaver, adds further depth to this unsettling exploration of trauma and manipulation. "The Keeper" is a stark, unflinching look at the darkness that can reside beneath the surface, recommended for those who appreciate psychological thrillers with potent performances.
