THE INCUBUS

Cinemavixion Review

John Hough's 'The Incubus' plunges viewers into a chilling mystery, weaving elements of supernatural horror with a palpable sense of dread. The film's narrative, set in a seemingly tranquil locale, unravels with a series of brutal attacks that baffle local authorities. John Cassavetes delivers a compelling performance as Dr. Sam Cordell, anchoring the investigation with a blend of scientific curiosity and growing unease. The plot expertly builds suspense, hinting at a darkness rooted in family secrets and premonitory visions, particularly through the character of Tim Galen. While the film may not have garnered widespread critical acclaim, as suggested by its Rotten Tomatoes score, it offers a unique blend of psychological thriller and supernatural elements that reward patient viewers with a haunting exploration of inherited curses and the uncanny. Its atmospheric tension and intriguing premise make it a noteworthy, albeit unsettling, cinematic experience.
