THE 6TH FRIEND

Cinemavixion Review

Letia Clouston's "The 6th Friend" plunges into the familiar territory of slasher horror, weaving a narrative that hinges on the lingering trauma of a disastrous college graduation party. Five years after a night of terror shatters their bonds, a group of former best friends reunites, only to find themselves ensnared in a fresh wave of violence and bloodshed. The film attempts to balance the psychological aftermath of past events with the visceral thrills of a present-day threat. While the premise offers potential for exploring themes of friendship under duress and the inescapable nature of past horrors, its execution relies heavily on the conventions of the genre. The ensemble cast, including Dominique Swain and Jessica Morris, navigates the escalating danger, aiming to deliver suspense within the confines of a narrative that prioritizes jump scares and gore. "The 6th Friend" offers a serviceable, if not groundbreaking, entry for fans of contemporary horror looking for a story centered on a core group facing a relentless antagonist.
