THE GERMAN PRISON BREAK

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the audacious prison break orchestrated by Hans-Joachim Horn, who, with the aid of an M47 Patton tank, breached the walls of Schwalmstadt Prison in Germany. The objective was to liberate his friend and mentor, Lothar Luft. The narrative is enhanced by the insights of Billy Hayes, himself a figure known for a dramatic prison escape that inspired the film "Midnight Express." Hayes, alongside expert interviews and reenactments, provides context to this remarkable feat of evasion, detailing how the pair navigated police pursuit in their stolen tank before disappearing into a forest. The film explores not just the mechanics of the break but also the broader context of daring escapes from incarceration.
