THE DARK STRANGER

Cinemavixion Review

Chris Trebilcock's "The Dark Stranger" plunges into the psyche of a young artist whose creative world bleeds into her reality with terrifying consequences. The film masterfully blurs the lines between psychosis and the supernatural as a character from her graphic novel manifests, tormenting her. While the film's reception, as indicated by its IMDb rating of 4.5/10 and a 20% on Rotten Tomatoes, suggests a challenging experience for viewers, its unique premise and exploration of artistic creation under duress offer a compelling, albeit unsettling, cinematic journey. The narrative, featuring Katie Findlay, Alex Ozerov-Meyer, and Enrico Colantoni, delves into themes of PTSD and the struggle to reclaim one's mind from internal demons, making it a noteworthy, if grim, entry in the horror-drama genre.
