THE BUDDY COP

Cinemavixion Review

"The Buddy Cop" presents a familiar yet potentially engaging premise, delving into the genre tropes of veteran officers facing a formidable foe. The narrative centers on Bontrager and Gast, LAPD officers whose pursuit of a criminal unleashes a dangerous vendetta from the victim's sister, Megan Dyer, a proprietor of an organ trafficking ring. The plot takes an intriguing turn with Gast's character, a once formidable officer now regressed to a childlike state due to a brain injury. The stakes escalate when Megan steals Bontrager's kidney, forcing a question of whether the diminished Gast can rise to the occasion and reclaim his former 'bad-ass' persona to confront the threat and save his partner. Directed by and starring David Leo, alongside Ellen Young and James Piper, this film appears poised to explore themes of redemption, resilience, and the enduring spirit of justice, even in the face of profound personal setbacks.
