THE BIRTH OF CZECH NATIONAL MUSIC | CLASSICAL DESTINATIONS WITH SIMON CALLOW

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating glimpse into the origins of Czech national music, specifically highlighting the legacies of Smetana and Dvorak. While the connection to the 1984 film 'Amadeus' and its Prague filming locations serves as a compelling entry point, the true substance lies in exploring the composers who shaped a nation's musical identity. The narrative skillfully navigates through the historical and cultural landscape of Bohemia, revealing how these artists forged a distinct sound that resonated deeply within their homeland and beyond. It's an insightful journey for anyone interested in classical music's regional expressions and the profound impact of individual creativity on a national consciousness.
