THE ABSENT: DARKEST SECRETS

Cinemavixion Review

Sage Bannick's 'The Absent: Darkest Secrets' plunges into the shadowed heart of Liberty, a town as rife with hidden truths as it is with palpable dread. The narrative centers on the chilling bond between twin brothers, Vincent and Oscar Burton, whose innocence is irrevocably shattered at the tender age of ten. When Oscar uncovers a sinister plot hatched by their own parents—a scheme to claim insurance money through murder—the story pivots from familial drama to a desperate fight for survival. Oscar's decision to take matters into his own hands sets the stage for a tense psychological thriller, exploring the extreme measures one might take when betrayed by those closest. Bryan Kirkwood and Vanessa Zima deliver compelling performances that underscore the film's exploration of paranoia and the primal instinct to endure against overwhelming odds.
