SUCH A LONG JOURNEY

Cinemavixion Review

Based on Rohinton Mistry's acclaimed novel, "Such a Long Journey" offers a poignant exploration of familial duty and personal integrity amidst political turmoil. Director Sturla Gunnarsson masterfully navigates the complexities of Gustad Noble's life in 1970s Bombay, portrayed with quiet dignity by Roshan Seth. The film intricately weaves Gustad's personal struggles—his strained relationship with his son, his wife's anxieties, and the crumbling urban landscape—with a dangerous entanglement in a government plot. The supporting cast, including Soni Razdan and Om Puri, provides strong performances that anchor the narrative's emotional core. Critically lauded with a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.2 rating on IMDb, the film is a sensitive portrayal of an ordinary man caught in extraordinary circumstances, grappling with loyalty and the consequences of his choices. Its subtle commentary on societal shifts and the personal cost of political engagement makes it a compelling watch.
