Scott Paulin's 1998 thriller "Shelter" offers a compelling narrative centered on a US Treasury Agent thrust into a dangerous world of corruption and unexpected alliances. John Allen Nelson delivers a nuanced performance as the agent, whose moral compass is tested when he opposes his own colleagues involved in gun running. His flight from the agency leads him into the orbit of a Greek mafia chief, and it is in saving the chief's wife, a woman who eerily resembles his own comatose spouse, that the agent finds himself entangled in a complex web of loyalty and forbidden desire.
