SEARCHING FOR HOME: COMING BACK FROM WAR

Cinemavixion Review

"Searching for Home: Coming Back from War" offers a profound and deeply affecting exploration of the veteran experience, a testament to the enduring human spirit. Director Eric Christiansen crafts a multi-generational narrative that unflinchingly examines the physical, mental, and spiritual journey of soldiers returning from conflicts spanning from World War II to modern-day engagements. The documentary excels in its intimate portrayal of individuals grappling with the hidden wounds of grief and trauma, some for decades. By providing unprecedented access, Christiansen allows viewers to witness the raw impact of PTSD, but crucially, the film pivots towards resilience. It chronicles the paths to healing and hope, highlighting various treatments and activities, and most importantly, the power of veterans helping others on their own recovery journeys. This is a vital, compassionate work that honors sacrifice and illuminates the long road to finding 'home' again.
