SCAMMER

Cinemavixion Review

Nykeith McNeal's 'Scammer' presents a modern, albeit brief, take on the classic 'A Christmas Carol' narrative. The film follows James Matthew, a character whose charm is matched only by his predatory financial dealings with past lovers. The premise takes a sharp turn into the supernatural as three spectral figures arrive to confront Matthew with the consequences of his avarice, offering a stark warning of eternal retribution. While the runtime suggests a concise exploration of themes, the core message about redemption and the impact of one's actions resonates. The performances, particularly by LaShawn Adams, Desi Anderson, and Shanta Banks, anchor the film's moralistic trajectory. 'Scammer' serves as a cautionary tale, reminding viewers that even the most cunning manipulators are not beyond facing their reckoning.
