SAVIORS

Cinemavixion Review

Christopher Greenslate's "Saviors" is a taut, unflinching exploration of identity and extremism, presented with a daring formal constraint: it is shot in a single, continuous take. This ambitious technique immerses the viewer directly into the volatile world of a young woman who infiltrates a white power group. Her objective is deeply personal – to locate her adoptive African-American mother. The film masterfully ratchets up the tension as her allegiances are tested, particularly after the group returns from a rally. The performances, notably from Megan Johnson, Joe Cadiff, and Nathaniel Stroud, anchor the narrative with a raw intensity. While "Saviors" garnered 3 wins and 5 nominations, its challenging subject matter and experimental approach make it a film that demands attention and provokes thought, offering a compelling, albeit disturbing, cinematic experience.
