SAVAGELAND

Cinemavixion Review

"Savageland" presents a chilling and unique take on the found-footage subgenre, masterfully blending elements of crime, horror, and thriller. Set against the stark backdrop of the Arizona-Mexico border, the narrative unfolds around the inexplicable overnight destruction of a town and the subsequent suspicion cast upon the sole survivor. The film excels in its atmospheric tension, drawing the viewer into a mystery that defies easy explanation. The directorial team of Phil Guidry, Simon Herbert, and David Whelan crafts a compelling visual narrative, particularly through the survivor's photographic evidence, which serves as the crucial counterpoint to the prevailing assumptions. While the film may not boast major awards, its intriguing premise and unsettling execution offer a thought-provoking cinematic experience, inviting audiences to question what truly lies beyond the visible. It's a testament to independent filmmaking that such a gripping story can be told with such focused intensity.
