ROOFTOP CHRISTMAS TREE

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Rooftop Christmas Tree' (2016), director David Winning crafts a heartwarming holiday tale that delves into the complexities of community, tradition, and hidden sorrows. The film centers on Sarah Wright (Michelle Morgan), a defense attorney drawn into the peculiar case of her reclusive neighbor, Mr. Landis, who annually places a lit Christmas tree atop his roof, a tradition that consistently lands him in legal trouble. This year, however, Sarah, with the reluctant assistance of prosecutor John Keaton (Stephen Huszar) and under the watchful eye of Judge Conner (Tim Reid), takes on the challenge to uncover the deeply personal and poignant reason behind Mr. Landis's steadfast ritual. What begins as a seemingly whimsical local ordinance dispute evolves into a touching exploration of grief and memory, revealing that the most enduring traditions often stem from the most profound heartbreaks. The performances, particularly from the lead trio, lend genuine emotional weight to the narrative, making 'Rooftop Christmas Tree' a memorable and touching holiday film that resonates long after the credits roll. Inspired by a true story, this Canadian production offers a gentle reminder of the miracles found in understanding and compassion.
