PUPPY BOOM: COUNTING THE COST

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Puppy Boom: Counting the Cost,' veterinarian Fabian Rivers embarks on a vital investigation into the escalating welfare concerns surrounding the surge in dog ownership and breeding in the UK. Since the initial lockdown, the demand for puppies has surged, leading to a dramatic increase in their cost and prompting many first-time owners to breed their pets. Rivers diligently documents the worrying trend of serious health issues emerging in popular breeds, highlighting barbaric practices like ear cropping and unlawful breeding methods. His findings are presented to the government's top vet, raising critical questions about the measures needed to protect the nation's beloved canine companions. This documentary serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities that come with pet ownership and the urgent need for stricter regulations in the breeding industry.
