ONE OF THE MISSING

Cinemavixion Review

Ambrose Bierce's stark tale of a doomed Confederate sniper finds a grimly effective visual interpretation in this 1979 adaptation, "One of the Missing." Directed by J.D. Feigelson, the film masterfully captures the claustrophobic horror of its protagonist's final moments, trapped amidst the ruins of a bombed-out house. Starring Gordon Baxter in a compelling performance, the narrative unfolds with a palpable sense of dread. The adaptation, which also features Linda April Raines and Talmadge Armstrong, adheres closely to Bierce's source material, translating the author's chilling prose into a visceral cinematic experience. While specific awards are not noted, the film's tight pacing and unflinching portrayal of wartime futility have earned it significant acclaim, evidenced by its impressive 8.3 rating on IMDb. "One of the Missing" is a powerful, albeit brief, exploration of survival and despair, recommended for those who appreciate atmospheric and psychologically resonant war dramas.
