NIGHT MOVES

Cinemavixion Review

Kelly Reichardt's 'Night Moves' offers a stark and compelling look at radical environmentalism, anchored by a nuanced performance from Jesse Eisenberg. Set against the evocative Pacific Northwest landscape, the film masterfully builds tension as three activists plot a dangerous protest against a hydroelectric dam. Reichardt eschews overt didacticism, instead focusing on the psychological toll of their actions, the simmering paranoia, and the complex moral ambiguities they face. Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard provide strong support, embodying the internal conflicts and external pressures that shape the characters' desperate choices. With a critical reception that highlights its thoughtful exploration of contemporary anxieties and a respectable box office performance, 'Night Moves' stands as a potent, character-driven thriller that resonates long after the credits roll, inviting contemplation on the price of conviction.
