NIGHT MOVES

Cinemavixion Review

Kelly Reichardt's 'Night Moves' crafts a compellingly tense narrative around radical environmental activism, anchored by a nuanced performance from Jesse Eisenberg. The film delves into the psychological toll of extreme action, as Eisenberg's character, Josh, alongside his compatriots played by Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard, embarks on a mission to disrupt a hydroelectric dam. Reichardt masterfully builds an atmosphere of escalating paranoia and moral ambiguity, eschewing overt didacticism for a more introspective exploration of dedication and its consequences. The 2013 drama, noted for its critical acclaim with an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, doesn't shy away from the complex ethical dilemmas faced by its protagonists. It's a thought-provoking piece that lingers long after the credits roll, questioning the efficacy and personal cost of fervent belief.
