MERLIN AND THE WAR OF THE DRAGONS

Cinemavixion Review

In "Merlin And the War of the Dragons," director Mark Atkins crafts a fantasy epic set against the backdrop of a ravaged 5th Century Britain. The narrative centers on a young Merlin, portrayed with earnestness by Simon Lloyd-Roberts, as he grapples with his burgeoning magical abilities under the tutelage of The Mage. The stakes are raised considerably with the introduction of Vendiger, an antagonist who seeks to conquer the land with an army of dragons, a threat that forces Merlin to ally with Prince Uther and Ingraine. While the film may not boast the polish of larger studio productions, its ambition in depicting mythical battles and magical duels is commendable. The visual effects, though modest, serve the story's fantastical premise, and the performances, particularly from the central cast, anchor the tale of courage against overwhelming odds. "Merlin And the War of the Dragons" offers a spirited adventure for enthusiasts of Arthurian legend and dragon lore.
