LETS GET TOUGH!

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Lets Get Tough!', Wallace Fox delivers a wartime piece that, while perhaps lacking in cinematic nuance, offers a potent dose of American spirit. The East Side Kids, led by the charismatic Leo Gorcey and the ever-reliable Huntz Hall, find themselves embroiled in a surprisingly direct confrontation with Japanese spies, a narrative choice clearly fueled by the era's heightened patriotic fervor. The film revels in its role as propaganda, presenting a straightforward, if somewhat simplistic, portrayal of good versus evil. While the plot may lean heavily on its topical relevance, the earnest performances of the core cast and the energetic pacing ensure it remains a watchable artifact of its time, capturing a specific cultural moment with unvarnished enthusiasm.
