LES MISERABLES

Cinemavixion Review

Victor Hugo's timeless narrative of redemption and societal injustice finds a compelling cinematic voice in this adaptation of "Les Miserables." The story, centered on Jean Valjean's arduous journey, is brought to life by a distinguished cast, including Anthony Perkins, Cyril Cusack, and Richard Jordan, who navigate the emotional depths of Hugo's characters. Director Glenn Jordan crafts a visually rich tapestry of 19th-century France, immersing the audience in the era's stark realities and the pervasive themes of law, mercy, and revolution. While the film may not boast the widespread acclaim of some other adaptations, its faithful portrayal of the novel's core conflicts and the nuanced performances, particularly from its lead actors, make it a worthy exploration of enduring human struggles for dignity and freedom against overwhelming odds.
